water
During the dry season last year, the "authorities" put the people in a state of panic due to the lack of water in the Tasik Kenyir's water catchment area and its dam. So, everyone was forced to ration water while the "authorities" monitored the water level (as if they could do something about it...). Today, again it's the water issue in Tasik Kenyir's water catchment area and its dam. This time, it's not about the lack of water but fear of the rising water level in the area. According to the "authorities", the flood (as I'd rather term it) is now breaching the 145m water level. But nooo, do not worry. The "authorities" assured the public that 'there is no cause for alarm yet as the spills will not cause spill downstream except when there is high tide. Then the water will not be able to flow into the sea, causing the river to burst its banks, but this has not happened yet' (The Star, 13/2).
It's so typical of the "authorities" -- let's wait for something to happen then conveniently react to it. Along the way, just tell our media ally to make up some stories as if it's not that serious. And if we can't handle it at the end of the day, then just find someone to blame. Oh, yes. Of course. The local communities. Blame them for living too close to the dam.
The "authorities" still think that they are able to dictate the course of nature. At times, I think even the definition of stupidity is stretched beyond its meaning that it no longer makes sense.
