after the fact
I don't understand why people are interested in asking what happened after the fact. For instance, this morning, I had an exam and I realize that I did not do well. In fact, I thought I did a disastrous job! But even by the end of the day, some of my fellow examinees would come up to me and ask "how did you think you do in your exam?". I'd say, "rather shitty". And they'd ask, "why?", "which questions did you answer?", "I did it this way and that. What about you?" - Damn it, the thing is bloody over. Why is there a need to discuss it? I don't think it would change the grade just by talking about it. Is it for a 'feel-good' purpose? Is everyone suddenly in a state of denial and prefer to dwell in it in the hope that a miracle would happen? I'm not into the feel-good-and-talk-about-it counseling business. I did a mess of it and it's over. Time to move on, people!
Now, I'm just thinking about how much beer I should drink tonight.
